This skep model is large at 45cm base diameter, entirely made by hand by artesans. Traditional design made from natural wheat straw, a bi-product from the harvest so environmentally-friendly. Safe for the bees, no chemicals used. The skep entrance is located towards the base to suit the natural behaviour of bees. The Skep can be put on a flat surface or hung on a branch by its handle. Skeps were used in times gone by to house bee colonies before wooden beehives were developed. Can be used to collect a swarm. Ideal for bee concious consumers not intending to collect honey as collecting honey would damage the colony brood.
