USER £ SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
GEL BURNERS WITH GEL TINS
WARNING - Observe these instructions to avoid
personal injury and damage to property
NEVER leave a burning fire unattended
HOT Burn risk
This is important safety advice to follow when using gel burners .Please do not use your burner before reading these instructions. Always observe
the safety advice and keep in safe place for future reference.
Fire gel is a highly flammable ethanol based fuel. The Gardeco tins are designed to be discarded after use. Gardeco advise against re-filling fire gel tins. If you nevertheless intend to re-fill a tin, ABSOLUTELY NEVER re-fill the gel tin while the fuel is still burning. You risk an explosion,
burns or personal injury and the fire spreading outside of the burner. Do not be tempted to try.
NEVER re-fill the gel tin while still hot, even if the fire is out. Bio-ethanol has a low flash-point, so ignites at low temperature. Failure to observe this safety instruction may lead to spontaneous re-igniting of the burner, causing
personal injury and the fire spreading. We advise waiting 10 minutes before re-fuelling the burner.
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE-Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking, no naked flame. Keep container tightly closed.Re-seal immediately after use.
FIRE GEL USE - SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION Do not eat, if
accidentally swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately and show label or instructions.
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN Bio-ethanol is
not a toy and fire is dangerous.
VERY HOT BURN RISK Do not attempt to touch the
flame. Do not touch the tin or gel burner while in use or you will burn your skin. The surface becomes very hot while in use. Burners may remain too hot to touch a long time after the fire has been extinguished.
Keep away from flammable materials such as curtains or furnishings. Keep away from plants.
Only use fire gel fuel. NEVER attempt to fill the burner with paper, wood or other material. DO NOT USE PARAFFIN OR LAMP OIL WHICH CANNOT BURN WITHOUT A WICK AND ARE NOT SUITABLE FUELS FOR THIS
BURNER. DO NOT USE PETROL OR DIESEL UNDER ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES. Do not place anything on top of the
burner. Do not mix the fuel with anything.
NO SMOKING- Do not smoke anywhere near the fire.
Do not be tempted to try.
Store in a cool place, away from sources of ignition. Do not store spare gel tins near, above, behind or below the gel burner.
NEVER move the Burner when it is burning.
Gardeco Gel Burners are not suitable for use in caravans, mobile homes, boats or in vehicles.
HOW TO LIGHT THE FIRE
To light the gel tin or burner, you need a naked flame. We recommend the use of a long-nosed gas lighter which is easier to position over the
opening of the burner. Using a conventional lighter or matches may result in burns to the fingers.
Simply place the nose of the lighter over the opening of the burner, light it, and you will see small blue flames when the fuel is burning. You may need to repeat the lighting several times, particularly outside or in windy conditions.
HOW TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE
We recommend allowing the fuel burn out and so the fire will extinguish naturally. That way you will have no fuel left over in the burner, which is safer.
However, the gel tin or burner may be extinguished by replacing the lid of the tin, this will starve the fire of oxygen which is how bio-ethanol
fires are extinguished.
Make sure the lid fits tightly without any openings. Even the smallest gap would allow the fire to continue burning.
Blowing on the fire will not extinguish it, quite the contrary, it will make the flames bigger.
FURTHER ADVICE
DO NOT add air to the fire, not by blowing on the fire or using a bellows. The flames may double in size instantly and the fire may suddenly be
much bigger than intended for the safe use of the gel burner.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE INDOORS
PLACE your gel burner on a solid surface made of non-flammable material.Stone, bricks or tiles are ideal. DO NOT put on carpets, wooden or plastic flooring which may mark or catch fire.
DO NOT place your gel burner near curtains, soft furnishings which may melt or catch fire. We recommend a minimum distance of 1 metre from any such materials.
DO NOT place your fire near plants or items sensitive to heat. They will be affected by the heat and it is a fire risk.
DO NOT place your fire under or near electrical cables or installations. This is dangerous.
DO NOT place your fire underneath lamps or other fittings. It is dangerous and a fire risk.
USING THE GEL BURNER INDOORS
DO NOT lean over the fire. Hair burns at low temperature and very quickly. DO NOT bring your face near the fire.
DO NOT cover or leave clothes or newspapers on or near the fire. They are a fire risk. DO NOT use the fire to dry clothes which may catch fire.
DO NOT place your fire in a place where it is likely to be knocked over or bumped into. DO NOT allow children, especially small children near
the fire. Do not allow children to play or run around the fire. It is not a toy. KEEP pets away from the fire.
KEEP the minimum room size requirements of 22 cubic metres. DO NOT place the fire in a non-ventilated room.
DO NOT leave a fire unattended at any time. We recommend placing a fire extinguisher near to your fire as a safety precaution.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE OUTDOORS
Place your gel burner on a flat surface. You should not place it on a sloping or uneven surface where it may tip over.
Place on a non-flammable surface such as stone or bricks. DO NOT place on grass which may turn brown.
DO NOT place your gel burner near bushes or plants or trees. The heat will damage the leaves and is a fire risk.
DO NOT place your gel burner close under an awning, it will burn or melt.
Place your gel burner at a reasonable distance from any potentially flammable garden furnishings, particularly if made of plastic or fabric. They may melt or catch fire.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Air fuels the fire, so the gel tin or burner should not be used in high winds.
Bio-ethanol is soluble in water so the Gel Burner should not be used in
the rain.
Weather conditions, outside temperature and winds affect the speed at which the fuel is used, so we are unable to give precise recommendation as to the usage.
