Bio-ethanol is a man-made plant based alcohol(ethanol) produced by industrial distillation processes, but treated so as to be unfit for human consumption (denaturised). It is also used as a fuel for indoor fireplaces. The Gardeco bio-ethanol is for burning in Gardeco fireplaces and chim burners, and is also suitable for use in suitable fireplaces sold by other companies.

Being made from plants, it is a renewable resource and not a fossil fuel, and consequently is environmentally-friendly. Burning bio-ethanol release water and carbon dioxide, so it is harmless to humans. There are no noxious smokes or gasses released while burning, so products using bio-ethanol do not require any special installation, flues or chimneys and can therefore be purchased for immediate and instant use. Bio-ethanol is highly flammable, so any naked flame will ignite the fuel, therefore no need for any firelighters, balled newspapers or kindling. To extinguish, the fire must be deprived of air; it goes out instantly. All Gardeco fireplaces and chim burners are supplied with a snuffer to extinguish the fuel. A bio-ethanol fire leaves no ashes or soot. Bio-ethanol is therefore quick and easy to light, to snuff, and clean. Bio-ethanol burns very hot. Burning time and overall KW output is dependant on the fireplace or burner design. Please check guidelines for each product.
